The Department of Economic Development is Salt Lake City’s liaison to international civic and business leaders and is honored to work with Utah’s diplomatic corps to host numerous delegations from around the world every year. The Department has hosted Foreign Ministers, Ambassadors, Consuls General, business and civic leaders, and other representatives interested in growing economic, diplomatic, cultural, and educational bonds with Salt Lake City. The Department works with city, state, and other organizations to advance Salt Lake City’s goals and create partnerships around the world. Utah Consular Corps

Salt Lake City is home to a thriving Consular Corps, with Career and Honorary Consuls from over 30 countries stationed in the Salt Lake Metropolitan area. DED staff serves as the liaison to connect Career Consuls, Consuls General, and Honorary Consuls with Salt Lake City officials and staff.

World Trade Center Utah

Salt Lake City works closely with the World Trade Center Utah in order to advance our shared mission to facilitate international partnerships and engagement.

Governor’s Office of Economic Opportunity

The Department of Economic Development partners with the Governor’s Office of Economic Opportunity to support economic development initiatives that benefit all Utahns through international partnerships.

International Business

Salt Lake City is home to the Utah Inland Port Authority as well as the Foreign Trade Zone. Numerous Chambers of Commerce also help elevate Salt Lake City and Utah to the global business stage.
